Our Process


This 5.3L LS engine is 325 cubic inches and was used in a variety of Chevrolet and GMC applications from 1999-2007. This version features a VIN code (8th digit of your Vehicle Identification Code) of T or Z, and does not have Active Fuel Management (AFM). The LS line of engines was the predecessor to GM's long running small block engine.

 

The LS line of engines include the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L engine sizes and had their fair share of common failure points. On the early versions of these engines cracked cylinder heads and oil consumption are the most notorious issues, while on the later generations they experienced issues with lifter noise and oiling issues. At Factory Direct we use this information to improve the design on many of these problems for a better than new LS engine.

 

All Factory Direct 5.3L LS engines are remanufactured, NOT rebuilt. Remanufactured engines provide the best value when compared to rebuilt engines or used engines. While a used or rebuilt 5.3L LS engine may seem attractive due to the low cost, it may end up costing you more than you think. Both used and rebuilt engine options do not include any updates to correct original design flaws like our remanufactured engines do. The 5.3L LS engine is a perfect example of an engine that had major concerns, and you don't want to risk your hard earned money with a used or rebuilt engine. Also remember that all remanufactured engines are not created equal.
