Our Process
This 5.4L "Triton" engine is 330 cubic inches and was used in a variety of Ford and Lincoln applications from 2004-2008. This version features a VIN code (8th digit of your Vehicle Identification Code) of 5, and has 3 valves per cylinder. Originally developed with 2 valves per cylinder, Ford increased this in the 5.4L engine to 3 valves per cylinder starting in 2004 in F-150 applications.
The most common failures of the 5.4L Triton engine are related to oil pressure and actuator problems. To improve the design and alleviate these issues all Factory Direct Engines include new OE variable valve timing (VVT) actuators, an updated high volume oil pump, new VVT screens, and cam bearings with tighter clearances to reduce VVT oil pressure problems.
All Factory Direct 5.4L Ford engines are remanufactured, NOT rebuilt. Remanufactured engines provide the best value when compared to rebuilt engines or used engines. While a used or rebuilt 5.4L Ford engine may seem attractive due to the low cost, it may end up costing you more than you think. Both used and rebuilt engine options do not include any updates to correct original design flaws like our remanufactured engines do.
